Retreat with Sayadaw U Kumarabhivamsa

From July 12 to 19, 2026, a 7-day retreat in the Pa-Auk tradition will take place in the Moscow region, at the Northern Kunsangar center, under the guidance of Venerable Sayadaw U Kumarabhivamsa — a meditation teacher in the Pa-Auk tradition.

A delegation of 11 monks from Myanmar, Cambodia, the United Kingdom, and Russia will take part in the retreat. Participants will receive detailed and systematic meditation instructions.

The retreat is held in the spirit of generosity — participation is completely free for all participants. At the same time, everyone has the opportunity to support this rare and very beneficial event by making a donation.

Retreat Expenses

Some of the expenses have already been paid: we have purchased almost all tickets for the monks and made advance payments for the hotel and the lecture hall.

Still to be paid

At the moment, the following expenses still need to be covered:

1. Rental of the Northern Kunsangar retreat center — 2,080,920 ₽. Since the delegation of monks and the number of participants have almost doubled, we requested more places for accommodation and meals, as well as a larger meditation hall.

2. Hotel — 255,000 ₽. This is the remaining part of the accommodation payment.

3. Lectures — about 120,000 ₽. This includes the remaining payment for hall rental, equipment, video recording, and editing.

4. Remaining tickets — about 120,000 ₽.

5. Other expenses — about 200,000 ₽. Video recording, meals for the monks before the retreat, transportation, printing of chanting booklets, and other necessary expenses.

All collected funds will be used exclusively for expenses related to the retreat, in order of priority.

If more funds are collected than needed, the additional funds will be used to provide more comfortable conditions for the monks and retreat participants.

All funds remaining after the retreat will be fully donated to Pa-Auk Monastery for the needs of the Sangha.

This retreat is a place and an opportunity to create all the necessary conditions for practicing the Buddha’s Teaching: interaction with experienced teachers, the practice of calming the mind, deepening one’s understanding of the Teaching, and making one’s life more peaceful and happier.

It is also an opportunity to make offerings to the Sangha: food, accommodation, and other necessary requisites.
